BEST RUNNING ROUTES (PART 1)

With gyms closed down due to the tightened COVID-19 measure, it must’ve been frustrating for a lot of us. Whether you are a sports lover or simply someone who takes care of your health, the second Singapore lockdown has taken a toll on us. But fret not, for Singapore has a lot of awesome running tracks throughout the island to let you keep your body fit and strong throughout the lockdown

This week, we will feature two running routes that you can consider for your next running session!

Running Route 1: Bishan - AMK Park

Located in the northern part of Singapore, this park is easily accessible by CTE and Upper Thomson Road. The route stretches for ~10km, and average joggers will take about 1 hour to complete the route.

  • If you are driving, you can park your car at the Bishan-AMK Park Carpark A along AMK Ave 1. If you are taking a train, you can alight at Bishan MRT and take a brisk to the park.
  • Suitable for beginners, as the terrain is generally flat with proper running pathways.
  • A public restroom is available near the carpark for you to wash up before and after the run.
  • If you are feeling hungry, there are also several F&B outlets such as McDonald’s and Canopy along the route.

Clove by the Park

Also a great area of residence, located beside the park is a condominium, Clover by the Park. It is a 99-year leasehold development completed in 2012, standing tall within Bishan neighbourhood. This property has facilities that families will love—two swimming pools, a tennis court, and a basketball court. It is also highly convenient with supermarkets and hawker centres within proximity.

Standing on 236,000 sqft land, there are a total of 616 units in the two residential towers. The units range in size, from 1216 sqft to 1916 sqft, and are mainly 3-5 bedroom apartments. Recent transactions range from approximately S$1,131 to $1,444 psf and the recently transacted units are within S$2.2 million.

Clover by the Park gives you the perks to live in a strategic neighbourhood in the heart of the city. Convenient shopping malls, many dining options, and walking distance to Bishan MRT station and Bishan Bus Interchange, along with a beautiful park to exercise and bring your whole family for the weekend; you can have it all in Clover by the Park

Running Route 2: MacRitchie Reservoir

A popular nature track among locals and tourists, you can also consider running in the MacRitchie Reservoir Park. For most of us growing up in Singapore, we would have remembered our cross-country competition when somebody mentions “MacRitchie Reservoir”

  • If you are driving, you can park your car at the MacRitchie Reservoir Car Park along Lornie Road. Otherwise, you can take the train to Caldecott MRT Station and take a 10-minutes walk.
  • This running route is more challenging than the first route, suitable for intermediate joggers and hikers. With some off-terrain action, the elevation can go as high as 60m at some parts of the path.
  • There are a few resting points along the way where you can go to the restroom and top up your water bottle at the water points to keep you hydrated throughout your run.
  • During the run, you can also enjoy the panoramic views of the reservoir and golf course.
  • And if you are feeling hungry, you can stop by Mushroom Café to savour some local delights.

Caldecott Hill Development

An exciting project is now under development to replace the former Caldecott Broadcast Centre in Andrew Road a few minutes from MacRitchie Reservoir. The site was bought by Perennial Holdings at the end of 2020, and is now in the pre-development stage, expected to launch in 2022-2023. Referring to the approval outline by the Urban Redevelopment Authority, the site is to be built in the Caldecott Hill Good Class Bungalow Area with permissions for two-storey 800-sqm bungalows.
